PDFs
These are medium quality print documents that you can put on your website for your audience to download and print for themselves.

Ideal for datasheets or other documents that do not need hi-res pictures or a glossy cover, they allow you to quickly reach a global market, as our client, Microfocus, has found. See an example of one of their datasheets, xxxxx.

Digital print

The advent of digital print is the newest and most exciting advancement in print technology for many years. Digital print has improved in such an astounding way that it is now approaching Litho standards. This has greatly impacted business communications, as it now means you can economically print smaller runs of items, while still retaining the quality that your brand image requires. This development gives you the freedom to be more flexible in your marketing approach, giving you the opportunity to adapt your generic print format to include different targeted and more personalised sections.

We at Cogent have embraced this technology and have devised a method of producing short runs of targeted brochures using the latest high quality digital print technology. One project that exemplifies Cogent’s use of this technology is the production of a medical brochure for the GPI group. The brochure was designed to have permanent (generic) and changeable (targeted) sections. The system allows GPI to pitch to a specific region or for a specific type of project in a small economical print run. Cogent worked with the print house to devise high quality binding to give a highly professional finish no matter the size of the run.

Litho print

This is the most common form of print. Litho offers high print quality, but due to the costs of making plates and a press, you need to be printing 1,000 – 2,000 items before litho becomes economical.

However, should your company need a larger run of high quality items, then this is the best option.

Web Offset
The final option is the most economical way to print high quality brochures or catalogues in a high volume. For this to be worthwhile, you would need to be printing between 10,000 and 100,000 items, which is why it is typically used for direct mail catalogues, such as the one we completed for our client, Smart Turnout, an internet-based men’s fashion company.
