Experts in Health is a group of leading experts and doctors who work together to help people to a better understanding of important medical conditions by using very high quality visual media. The team had a worked with film company, Distant Object Productions, to produce a comprehensive educational DVD for patients and healthcare professionals on the subject of Hypertension. By educating patients about the disease and helping them to lower their risk, the aim is to improve blood pressure control and hence reduce the terrible toll of cardiovascular disease.

Cogent Design was appointed to create the brand and a website to run in parallel to the DVD acting as on-line information about High Blood Pressure and also as an e-commerce outlet for the DVD.

Cogent worked closely with the team to establish the positioning of the brand using mood boards to help everyone understand the environment that the new brand would operate within. Besides looking at other health and pharmaceutical brands we looked at the varied target customer profiles. Customers would range from government, pharmaceutical companies and other healthcare professionals to members of the public and retail outlets. Therefore the brand had to have a broad appeal, carry a degree of medical authority whilst being friendly and approachable.

We then worked with our main contact Dr Henry White on the structure of the content and the navigation. Cogent produced easily editable site maps to enable Henry to write relatively complex text in a structured and web friendly manner. The site was then built in Joomla, an open source CMS (Content Management System) to enable easy text edits and regular updates to ensure accuracy to the latest medical opinion.

In addition Cogent also designed the DVD interface and Point of Sale ( PoS) material for pharmacies
