Opal Marine is one of the UK’s leading Yacht Brokers with an innovative and flexible approach to buying and selling used boats

What they wanted to do

In 2011 Opal Marine decided to focus on their core UK yacht brokerage business and move away from marketing Super Yachts. In addition they wanted to launch and promote two innovative schemes for the part exchange and direct purchase of yachts as an alternative to traditional brokerage.

What we did

Cogent carried out a competitor analysis and recommended that Opal Marine re-position their brand in order to better align themselves with their core market and give greater focus and credibility to their new messages. This would be conveyed by a fresh, distinctive look and feel to further differentiate their offer.

The company’s three main offers of Brokerage, Part Exchange and Direct Purchase were strongly and clearly promoted on the home page and throughout the site as were the featured yachts and search facility.

Our analysis had also revealed that the Opal Marine site was not optimised for the most popular customer search terms such as “boats for sale”. Therefore our copywriting and web page coding incorporated a range of the most popular search terms.
